Spinning

Here you sit
Twisting your chair into
Yarn. Each tired nail bent; each
Splintered cord undone.

Here you squirm
Gnashing, gnarled teeth
Clamped down on a
Little Unlived Life.

Negative photograph flashes
Yellowed faces once alive. Laughing.
Belching. Racing. Furious with
Desire and Unrequited Love.

My face now –
Twisted. Gnarled. Sneering. This
Little Life Not Mine.
Red-eye photo

Voids lusty, emboldened smile.
Quashes freedom. I sit here
Spinning. I’m spinning. Just
Spinning. Spinning for gold.
