Screamed Out

Somewhere in the world a shout screams back;
Unsuspecting village,
Little girl, homemade dolly in the forest or by the seas or
Wandering to school, planting imaginary seeds at the Full Moon
When all things surely pass.

A Scream -
Turning the wind
Twisted branches, scraping metal, trenched boulders,
Sky falls;
Smashed homes, drained creek beds
Drowning necks of city streets.

Ripped hair, torn dress, scuffed sneakers, lace dragging.
Little girl, you better run!
Fat storm unleashed -
Continents sway perilously in open space or
Next door or on the way to school.

Light-years so advanced. Stationed, cataloged and tax-exempt;
We're so advanced. No, just petty and spoiled to entertain our
Outrage; Wait
30 seconds of hold music
2 hours behind a semi-trailer
90 days for insurance benefit
20 more years for fruited trees.

But I
Don't have to scream anymore.
Waves inside turn to puddles.
Torpedo gales of internal sobs become
Breathlessly still.

Speak to me. I am the
Silence that waits. I see
Expanse beyond hurricane skies and
Listing seas. Soft and fragrant -
I murmur now; quiet
Songs of honest praise.
This Storm shall pass.
